IONOS is seeking a Software Engineer with strong C++ development skills to join the Infrastructure and Network Software Development team. The role focuses on building internal tooling used to support the backend platform and frontend management UIs for 1&1 Internet and related services, and contributes to the Enhanced Backup project which backs up millions of web hosts every day, up to 2 petabytes per day. The project consists of multiple modules and interfaces closely with the Linux operating system and its file system, and the codebase comprises about 750,000 lines. Responsibilities include collaborating with Product Owners and Architects to define technical solutions aligned with the product vision, working with other engineers to develop new products, extending existing products, and participating in all phases of development, maintenance, and housekeeping of the Enhanced Backup solution. Technical requirements include: C++ with modern standards (C++17 and newer); network programming in C++ (TCP/UDP); multithreading; C++ STL; CMake 3.3; Linux (Debian) environment; Linux file system hierarchy and permissions; Linux process management (signals, forking, IPC); REST APIs; Google Test framework; Python 3.12; Docker and docker-compose; OpenSSL 3.0.
