Speechify is seeking a Software Engineer for its Data Infrastructure & Acquisition team in Detroit, Michigan, United States. Speechify builds text-to-speech products used by millions and operates with a fully distributed workforce in a remote-first environment. This role focuses on data collection and ingestion to support model training, enabling petabyte-scale data pipelines through close collaboration of infrastructure, engineering, and research.

What You’ll Do - Find new data sources of audio and bring them into our ingestion pipeline - Operate and extend the cloud infrastructure for the ingestion pipeline, currently on Google Cloud Platform and managed with Terraform - Collaborate with scientists to improve cost, throughput, and quality to power next-generation models - Work with the AI Team and company leadership to shape the dataset roadmap for Speechify’s products

Ideal Candidate Should Have - BS/MS/PhD in Computer Science or related field - 5+ years of industry software development experience - Proficiency with bash and Python scripting in Linux - Proficiency with Docker and Infrastructure-as-Code; professional experience with at least one major cloud provider (GCP preferred) - Experience with web crawlers and large-scale data processing workflows is a plus - Ability to manage multiple tasks and adapt to changing priorities - Strong written and verbal communication skills
