Toast is seeking a Software Engineer I to join the IQ Grow team in Dublin, Ireland, in a hybrid role that blends AI-powered marketing innovations with human-in-the-loop workflows. You will design, build, and maintain high-performing, scalable backend services and collaborate with Product, Design, and Engineering to deliver end-to-end features that enhance guest experiences for restaurant customers. You will ship features from design through rollout, monitor success, and iterate based on real-world usage while leveraging AI tools to improve development velocity and explore new workflows.

What you'll need to thrive: strong Kotlin/Java experience delivering impactful products; comfort reading and integrating with frontend applications and willingness to work across the stack; interest in AI-assisted development and LLM-based agents (Claude Code or similar); ability to work with ambiguity in an agile environment and ship usable software incrementally; passion for making users happy and seeing people use your product in the wild; solid software development fundamentals (code quality, unit tests, clean code) and openness to evolving with AI tooling; excellent collaboration skills and the ability to tailor technical detail for diverse audiences; curiosity and growth mindset with a desire for broader ownership.
