Hedvig is looking for a backend-focused software engineer with hands-on experience building AI-powered functionality in production. You will work across the stack to shape and improve AI-enabled product experiences, collaborating closely with product and design to deliver reliable AI capabilities. A concrete example is automating parts of the claims journey so straightforward claims can be resolved in minutes. You’ll spend most of your time building features, designing systems, and improving the product, and you’ll participate in AI initiatives, sharing learnings and ensuring responsible, effective use of AI. The tech stack includes Kotlin with Spring Boot, Next.js and Vercel, Swift, GraphQL, microservices, services on AWS and GCP, and a variety of LLM implementations from major providers and local models. You don’t need to be an expert in all of these, but you should be comfortable navigating complex systems and learning new technologies. Requirements: a couple of years of hands-on experience delivering AI or LLM-powered functionality in production; experience with LLM integrations, model APIs, agentic or automated workflows, evaluations, guardrails, observability, or human-in-the-loop systems; a mostly backend-oriented background; strong computer science fundamentals; pragmatic system design; comfortable working through ambiguity; motivated by solving real customer problems with purposeful use of technology.
