Costain is seeking a Project Engineering Manager to lead a multi-disciplinary engineering design team on UK water sector projects. The role is hybrid and nominally based at Costain’s Manchester or London offices, with a minimum of two days per week in the office and flexibility to discuss where, when and how to work in line with role, client, business and team requirements. You will be responsible for managing the delivery of multi-disciplinary engineering design across the project lifecycle to meet schedule, budget, safety, environmental and quality requirements, including defining and agreeing project requirements with clients. The position involves client-facing duties and coordinating engineering and design interfaces with project partners and supply chain. Travel to company, supplier or client sites may be required. The Manchester office is 40% office-based, with mobility to travel to client sites and suppliers as needed. Essential qualifications include an honours degree in an engineering field; Chartered Engineer status and APM qualification are desirable. Major responsibilities include ensuring CDM PD/D compliance, aligning resources with project requirements, maintaining clear design scope and budget, coordinating with partners and suppliers, managing risk and cost reporting, and delivering projects safely, sustainably and efficiently while upholding governance and standards.
