Speechify is seeking a Software Engineer, Platform to join our globally distributed team in a remote-first role based in Columbus, Ohio. Speechify’s mission is to ensure reading is never a barrier to learning; millions rely on our text-to-speech products across iOS, Android, Mac, Chrome Extension, and Web apps. Our Platform team designs and maintains backend services, including payments, analytics, subscriptions, new products, text-to-speech, and external APIs.

What you’ll do: - Design, develop, and maintain robust backend APIs, including the public TTS API and internal APIs for Payments, Subscriptions, Auth, and Consumption Tracking, ensuring scalability and reliability - Oversee the full backend API landscape, optimizing performance and maintainability - Collaborate on B2B solutions, focusing on customization and integration for enterprise clients - Work with cross-functional teams to align backend architecture with product strategy and user experience

What we’re looking for: - Proven experience in backend development with TS/Node - Direct experience with GCP and knowledge of AWS, Azure, or other cloud providers - Strong ideation and implementation skills, prioritizing tasks by urgency and impact - Bonus: Docker and containerized deployments; proficiency with Kubernetes
