Owner is seeking a Staff Software Engineer, Backend to own and scale the Grader backend, the restaurant health report used by thousands of operators. The role is fully remote and can be based anywhere in the United States and Canada. In this position you will own backend services and data pipelines, from ingesting third-party signals to delivering reliable results at scale. You will harden the platform for expansion, improve observability, and establish architectural patterns to reduce toil. You will collaborate across product, design, and business teams to drive delivery of a scalable, AI-powered tool for restaurant owners. Requirements include 7+ years of backend production experience, experience building data pipelines and async processing systems, and a track record of improving reliability. The tech stack includes Node.js and TypeScript; MongoDB and PostgreSQL; AWS, Datadog, and Temporal. Compensation ranges from $220K-240K plus a pre-IPO equity package, with comprehensive health coverage, remote-friendly policies, and unlimited PTO.
