About the role

Staff Accountant – Jacksonville, Florida, United States (On-site)

Feeding Northeast Florida (FNEFL), the region’s largest nonprofit food bank and hunger relief network, is seeking a Staff Accountant to perform a variety of accounting and administrative functions under the direction of the Accounting Manager. This exempt, full-time position helps implement and maintain internal controls to safeguard the organization’s assets and supports a range of accounting activities.

Responsibilities

Qualifications:

Process cash receipts and respond to inquiries; assist with donor gift acknowledgments in coordination with the Philanthropy Department.
Manage accounts payable, review invoices for proper coding and approval, and ensure no duplicate payments.
Reconcile monthly balance sheet accounts (excluding fixed assets and inventory); enter journal entries as requested.
Process bi-weekly payroll and prepare payroll reports; prepare grants financial reports.
Assist with annual financial audit preparation, IRS Form 990, and the budgeting process; support inventory, grants, capital campaigns, events, and other initiatives.
Maintain supporting documentation and assist with internal controls; make recommendations to the Accounting Manager.
Perform administrative duties as assigned.
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or equivalent; 2–3 years of accounting experience with significant accounts payable and disbursements experience.
Understanding of accounting principles and general ledger transactions.
Experience with financial system software (NetSuite preferred) and high pr
