About the role

MDA Space is seeking a Software Test Engineer for offices in Manchester, Stevenage and Harwell in the United Kingdom. This hybrid role involves designing and developing onboard software and ground test software for space payloads, collaborating with cross-functional teams to deliver robust solutions for exploration missions and space-based communications.

Responsibilities

Essential: Desirable:

Design and develop onboard software and ground test software for payloads.
Proactive team player who freely shares knowledge with others.
Analyze issues to identify root causes, develop test cases, and deliver robust solutions.
Estimate resources for end-to-end software delivery to internal and external customers.
Document APIs and code to a suitable level and communicate with the validation team.
Proven ability to derive software designs from requirements.
Ability to produce Requirements, Architecture, Design and Test documentation.
Experience developing C/C++ for systems using the Linux operating system.
Experience with formal development, test, integration and documentation processes and tool sets, e.g., Git, Jenkins.
Experience in or knowledge of ECSS Software development process or similar.
Software Development standards such as MISRA or CERT C.
Computer networking and protocols; Architecture and Design Patterns.
Embedded Software Development; CCSDS Protocols; Operating and automating radio frequency test equipment.
Linux kernel and device drivers; Electronics hardware related to our products, including phased arrays, processor electronics.
