Senior Software Engineer II – Tucson, AZ (Rocket Lab Optical Systems)

Overview: We are seeking a Senior Software Engineer II to design flight software for spacecraft and payload systems as part of Rocket Lab’s Space Systems division. This role focuses on deploying high-performance algorithms to Size/Weight/Power-constrained sensors in austere environments and contributing to mission-critical software across requirements, design, implementation, testing, and deployment.

Responsibilities

Qualifications: Nice-to-have: Environment: Office-based role in Tucson, Arizona, United States. May involve routine computer work and production environment considerations.

Develop and deploy flight software for spacecraft and payloads.
Implement and optimize software for constrained sensor systems.
Participate in all phases of software development from requirements to deployment.
Advance performance-oriented programming leveraging accelerator technologies.
Bachelor’s degree in computer science or computer engineering.
8+ years of embedded software engineering experience.
Experience designing complex multithreaded applications and flight software.
Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government security clearance.
Experience with high-performance/parallel processing (FPGA, CUDA), flight software system management, algorithm implementation.
Python and MATLAB familiarity; numerical computing.
