About the role

Aspect Capital, a London-based systematic hedge fund managing over $9 billion in client assets, is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to join the Data Engineering team. The team handles ingestion, storage, transformation, and distribution of tick data, time-series data, reference data, and alternative datasets across on-premises and cloud infrastructure. This is an end-to-end role with ownership from initial design through to production support. Requirements

Desirable:

5+ years as a Software Engineer or Data Engineer
Strong Python
SQL and relational databases
Linux and Docker
Excellent communication with both technical and non-technical colleagues
Financial industry experience
Java
dbt
Snowflake or similar cloud data warehouse
Kafka
AWS
Iceberg
Apache Flink
Familiar with major financial data vendor APIs

Responsibilities

Develop ELT pipelines to ingest and transform datasets using Python, Snowflake, and dbt
Build a streaming platform to capture and aggregate large volumes of tick data
Extend internal libraries to provide unified access to our data catalogue
Support our Java live data feed handlers
Consolidate legacy MATLAB systems onto our cloud-native technology stack
Collaborate with quantitative developers, researchers and portfolio managers
