About the role

Senior Flight Software Engineer I at Rocket Lab, based at the headquarters in Long Beach, California (on-site). You will contribute to the development of flight software for Space Systems programs, spanning requirements definition, coding, and testing. With opportunities to test and operate software on our own rockets and launch sites, you will help ensure on-orbit capabilities and mission success.

Responsibilities

Qualifications: Nice-to-have:

Develop application software to run within a Real Time Operating System (RTOS) and/or embedded Linux.
Develop hardware drivers for IMUs, star trackers, reaction wheels, and other spacecraft sensors and actuators.
Create and maintain comprehensive unit tests to run within a Continuous Integration framework.
Collaborate with hardware-in-the-loop test engineers to verify and validate software/hardware functionality.
Work with systems engineers and embedded systems engineers to develop, document, and validate requirements.
Participate in design reviews such as PDR and CDR and in code reviews, ensuring adherence to coding standards.
Assist with on-orbit and interplanetary flight operations.
Bachelor's degree in aerospace engineering, computer science, electrical engineering, or equivalent technical discipline.
Active Secret Clearance with ability to obtain TS/SCI.
5+ years of hands-on embedded software development experience.
Proficiency in C and C++.
Experience with Real Time Operating Systems or Embedded Linux.
U.S. citizenship is required due to program requirements.
Active TS/SCI security clearance.
