Northrop Grumman is seeking a Principal or Senior Principal Data Scientist to support the Product Support Analytics and Innovation team. This full-time, in-office role is on-site at our facility in San Diego, California, with travel up to 25% as projects require. The position involves architecting and building core data logic and high-performance machine learning tools from the ground up to extract meaning from complex data sets. You will collaborate closely with software engineers, analysts, and other data scientists to understand data requirements and deliver robust, integrated solutions; architect and develop custom, maintainable data science solutions from the ground up; write and maintain tests and documentation for data architecture, workflows, and processes; promote software engineering best practices within the data domain, including comprehensive unit/integration testing, CI/CD automation (Git, Docker), and robust documentation; tune and optimize complex algorithms within our on-premise infrastructure.

Qualifications for Principal Data Scientist: Bachelor's degree in a science, technology, engineering, or mathematics discipline with a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience, or a Master’s in STEM with 3 years of relevant experience; deep understanding of machine learning and deep learning; recent professional experience in software development and/or data engineering; strong Python and SQL skills; familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and version control (Git, Docker, etc.); ability to obtain and maintain a US Government Top Secret clearance and Special Access Progra
