Southwest Airlines is seeking a Summer 2027 Data Engineer Intern to join our Technology team in a remote internship based in Dallas, United States. The 12-week program runs May 18 – August 8, 2027, and requires full-time effort (40 hours per week). While most work will be performed remotely, attendance at trainings, meetings, and conferences may require travel. The internship provides exposure to real-time data platforms that power Southwest’s operational systems and opportunities to collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver data-driven insights in support of our mission to connect people with what’s important in their lives.

Duties and Responsibilities - Support testing of data pipelines and integrations (e.g., between People and Training applications such as Workday and Cornerstone). - Identify and document data flow issues and transformation logic errors. - Help automate manual processes such as training assignment tracking, report generation, and data syncing between systems. - Build or update dashboards and reports using Tableau or Alteryx to reflect data from LMS systems. - Document technical processes, data definitions, and system behaviors during LMS transitions. - Monitor data quality, flag duplicates or inconsistencies, and assist with cleanup. - Participate in user acceptance testing for LMS features and reporting tools. - Contribute to quality control activities and provide actionable feedback.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities - Proficiency with programming/scripting languages (Python, SQL, JavaScript, HTML, CSS). - Familiarity with AWS cloud services
