Hawkeye Electric is seeking a detail-oriented Controller to join our team in Hiawatha, Iowa. This permanent, on-site role provides high-level accounting oversight, financial reporting, job costing support, and project-based accounting services for clients in the construction and real estate industries. Responsibilities include preparing monthly financial statements and reconciliations; managing AIA billings; performing job costing and cost tracking; tracking project costs, budgets, and profitability; recording accruals and prepaid expenses; calculating depreciation; preparing cash flow statements and trial balances; assisting with budgeting and forecasting; preparing and filing sales tax returns; tracking intercompany transactions; preparing and filing 1099s; and processing payroll including W-2 preparation and filings; other projects as assigned. Qualifications include experience in construction and/or real estate industries; strong understanding of operations; experience with job costing, project accounting, and cost tracking; experience with multiple accounting software platforms including QuickBooks and AppFolio; excellent written and verbal communication skills with a professional client-facing approach; ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and meet multiple deadlines; and the ability to thrive in a collaborative, fast-paced environment. The role offers a salary range of $90,000 - $105,000 per year plus benefits.
