Wise is seeking a Payment Operations Risk & Controls Team Lead to lead the Control Assurance & Advisory team within PayOps Risk & Controls in Tallinn, Estonia. This on-site role is based in Tallinn, Estonia. It is a hands-on leadership position that will guide a team delivering practical assurance, risk advice, and constructive challenge across Payment Operations and related functions. Your mission is to ensure key risks are managed effectively and controls operate as intended while driving strategic initiatives with measurable impact across the organization.

As the team lead, you will set direction and standards, stay close to the work to support risk assessments, control decisions, issues and stakeholder discussions, and develop a high-performing, inclusive team. You will align assurance priorities with the broader Risk & Controls and PayOps strategy, oversee risk assessments, control testing, monitoring, and remediation actions, and ensure accurate evidence and assign owners with realistic completion dates. You will act as a trusted risk advisor to PayOps, Product, Compliance, second-line Risk, Internal Audit, Finance, Treasury and other Wise teams. You will lead cross-functional improvement projects, measure impact, and drive adoption of robust frameworks, SOPs and assurance standards. You will forecast capacity needs, promote knowledge sharing, and support succession planning. You may deputise for the Risk & Controls Senior Lead when required.
