Vanderbilt Health is seeking a Data Engineer / Platform Administrator to manage its Azure Databricks platform and develop data pipelines. The role involves ~80% platform administration of the Azure Databricks environment (100+ workspaces), including compute policies, access controls, governance, automation, and Infrastructure as Code, with ~20% focused on data engineering to design and optimize pipelines. You will own defined areas of the platform with guidance from senior engineers and opportunities to expand scope as you grow. This role can be performed fully remote from most US locations. Responsibilities include building automation, monitoring platform health and costs, testing new Databricks features, promoting best practices, and developing tools used by other teams. Qualifications include a Bachelor’s degree; 1+ year of Databricks experience; 2+ years of Python; 2+ years of cloud experience (Azure, AWS, or GCP); and 1+ year of SQL. Preferred qualifications include Terraform, CI/CD automation (GitLab/GitHub/Azure DevOps), REST data services, APIs, and containers (Docker/Podman). Bonus qualifications include PowerShell and Bash scripting, and links to GitHub or other code samples.
