About the role

JerseySTEM is a mission-driven nonprofit organization focused on improving access to STEM education and career pathways for underserved middle school girls in New Jersey. JerseySTEM is seeking a College Engagement Student Groups Team Lead for a pro-bono, remote position. The Team Lead will organize outreach and engagement with student groups on campus to secure access and exposure, and ultimately recruit them as program instructors. Student groups include Professional groups (e.g., ACM, ASCE, IEEE), Affinity groups (SHE, SWE, SHPE, WICYS), and Greek life. JerseySTEM supports 30 universities in New Jersey, with approximately 10 student organizations per university and 4–5 board members per group.

The Team Lead will organize outreach and engagement with student groups on campus to secure access and exposure, and ultimately recruit them as program instructors. Student groups include Professional groups (e.g., ACM, ASCE, IEEE), Affinity groups (SHE, SWE, SHPE, WICYS), and Greek life. JerseySTEM supports 30 universities in New Jersey, with approximately 10 student organizations per university and 4–5 board members per group.

Responsibilities

Qualifications:

Work with the Department head to define strategy and targets for the upcoming school year.
Research colleges and their student groups, identify group chapters and leadership, locate contacts, and maintain that information in Salesforce.
Engage with, establish, and maintain relationships with student organizations on each campus, secure meeting times and presentations.
Coordinate marketing materials with Marketing Departments.
Execute recruitment campaigns and enlist student organizations to relay our message to their members.
Attend virtual department meetings weekly (Sundays 5pm EST) and a monthly leadership meeting.
Genuine interest in solving the STEM education gender gap.
Ability to establish and maintain connections with area schools.
Resourceful, can-do attitude.
