Atlas Air Worldwide is seeking a Staff Data Scientist to join the Data Analytics and Optimization team. This on-site role focuses on developing data-driven technology solutions for high-dimensional resource management problems in aviation, balancing trade-offs under uncertainty while turning insights into operational improvements. Key responsibilities include leading cross-functional data science projects with stakeholders across engineering, product, and business units; translating business requirements into well-defined analytics projects; designing experiments to test hypotheses; collecting, cleaning, and analyzing large structured and unstructured datasets; building and maintaining advanced machine learning and optimization models; creating clear data visualizations and compelling narratives for technical and non-technical audiences; mentoring junior data scientists; staying current with emerging data science techniques; collaborating with data engineering to deploy production-ready solutions; monitoring model performance and iterating as needed; and establishing best practices for the data science function.

Qualifications include a Master’s degree or PhD in Operations Research, Machine Learning, Computer Science, Data Science, Statistics, Mathematics, or a related quantitative field; 5+ years of hands-on experience in a data science or analytical role with a track rec
