In this role you will be the guardian and architect of smartclip’s internal infrastructure, turning observability and automation into a platform capability that enables every engineer across the company. This role is hybrid: remote by default with in-person collaboration in Berlin for larger features.

In this role you will be the guardian and architect of smartclip’s internal infrastructure, turning observability and automation into a platform capability that enables every engineer across the company. Own the Observability Stack: Lead the use and evolution of Prometheus, Grafana, and Forgejo to create a world-class monitoring ecosystem.
Engineer for Reliability: Design actionable alerting and define SLOs to move from reactive firefighting to proactive stability.
Champion Open Source: Evaluate and implement cutting-edge open-source options and decide what enters our stack and how it integrates.
Secure the Pipeline: Integrate security engineering directly into our delivery process, identifying vulnerabilities before they are found in penetration tests.
Master the Metal: Navigate Linux systems and distributed tooling, balancing bold experimentation with production stability.
Qualifications Core competencies: Observability expertise; Linux and systems engineering; automation mindset; ownership culture.
Nice-to-haves: Hands-on experience with GCP or AWS at production scale; active contributions to the open-source community or a portfolio of self-hosted projects; experience conducting blameless post-mortems and driving root-cause analysis.
