Nutrient is seeking a backend engineer who is passionate about building robust, scalable systems and excited to work with modern cloud technologies and distributed architectures to power our Document Engine and SaaS products. You will architect high-performance backend services that handle complex document processing workflows at scale and care for the cloud infrastructure our products run on.

What you'll work on: - Design and implement high-performance Elixir/Phoenix-based systems for Nutrient's Document Engine and Web Services API. - Build declarative infrastructure, scalable and observable, using Terraform, Terramate and FluxCD on Kubernetes, with Helm charts powering both our managed cloud and customer self-hosted deployments. - Operate and evolve our managed cloud platform: cluster lifecycle and upgrades, GitOps workflows, observability, and database operations, ensuring reliability, security and cost efficiency. - Share ownership for architecture, tools and services; contribute to product development and customer success. - Collaborate with a small, remote-first engineering team to ship features, debug hard problems, and continuously improve reliability. - Meet in person with the team periodically to align and reflect.

What you'll bring: - Experience in backend services and distributed systems. - Proven track record running production workloads on Kubernetes and public cloud (AWS), ideally with infrastructure-as-code and GitOps practices. - Strong coding skills; Elixir experience isn’t required—we’ll help you learn. - A pragmatic approach to code: clean architecture
