Dave is seeking a Senior Backend Software Engineer to design and build scalable backend services for real-time risk decisioning. This is a remote-first role based in the United States (excluding Hawaii). What you'll do: • Design and build backend services in TypeScript for real-time risk decisioning; • Build and maintain event-driven workflows using queues, pub/sub, and cloud task infrastructure; • Design and implement state machines to model multi-step decisioning and verification flows; • Collaborate with product, operations, and infrastructure teams to scale backend services; • Participate in code reviews; own end-to-end delivery of small-to-medium projects; provide technical leadership and mentorship. What you'll need: • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or equivalent practical experience; • 5+ years of software development; • Hands-on experience with event-driven architectures (message queues, pub/sub); • Experience with cloud task/job scheduling systems (Cloud Tasks, SQS, Celery, or equivalent); • Experience designing or implementing state machines for multi-step workflows; • Strong CS fundamentals and teamwork; • Experience programming in TypeScript/JavaScript (Node.js) or equivalent in Java, Python, C/C++, or Go; • Experience with MySQL and Google Cloud Platform; • Strong communication and collaborative skills; • Comfortable using AI tools as part of engineering workflow with sound judgment.
