Senior Backend Java Developer needed to design, develop, and test Java/J2EE applications for the District of Columbia Department of Motor Vehicles Destiny modernization program. The role focuses on Java programming within the Spring framework, REST/RPC APIs, and Agile methodologies to connect the Destiny application with modern technologies, while ensuring security and scalability. Responsibilities include writing clean, scalable code; refactoring and debugging; developing documentation; and providing technical support. You will collaborate with internal teams to design software architecture, develop, test, deploy, monitor performance, troubleshoot issues, and coordinate activities of application developers. Minimum education: Bachelor's degree in Information Technology or related field or equivalent experience. This is a professional contract role; experience with Spring Boot, Spring Integration, Spring Web Services, Maven, Git, Tomcat/Jetty, Linux, JIRA, and Red Hat OpenShift, as well as mainframe CICS via JCA connectors, and CI/CD practices is highly valued.
