JOIN is seeking a Backend Engineer to join our Berlin-based engineering hub. You’ll contribute to improving our platform architecture, raise quality standards, and build robust, scalable features used by thousands of users daily. You’ll collaborate with frontend engineers, product managers, and DevOps/platform teams to deliver meaningful features through our Agile SDLC/Kanban workflow. You’ll conduct peer code reviews, participate in retrospectives, define technical requirements, and contribute to architecture discussions, automation, testing, and coding standards. You’ll focus on delivering value and improving the user experience for our customers. You’ll work with the Backend Guild, collaborating with Product, Platform, DevOps and Frontend teams, supported by clean architecture, code generation, linters, templates, and test-driven development. Requirements include 5+ years of backend development experience; 2+ years with a strongly typed language or TypeScript; strong experience with RDBMS; solid background in unit and integration testing; experience with message brokers (SNS, RabbitMQ, Kafka, Google Pub/Sub, etc.). Bonus: Node.js, GraphQL, GCP or AWS, gRPC and protobufs; strong understanding of SOLID principles.
