Epic Games is seeking a Senior Backend Engineer to join the Identity team in Cary, North Carolina (onsite), United States. You will design, build, deploy, and operate secure, scalable backend services for account management across Epic’s online ecosystem, including login, sign-up, session management, safety and privacy controls, developer integrations, and family management features. You will work with distributed systems (Java/Scala) and public cloud infrastructure (AWS) to handle large-scale challenges, own the lifecycle of services and web applications, and connect front-end user flows with backend services. You will collaborate with upstream and downstream service owners, producers, and other cloud, infrastructure and DevOps engineers. You will use modern SQL and NoSQL databases (MongoDB, DynamoDB, Redis) and ensure robust, high-availability solutions. The role requires 4+ years of experience crafting secure, scalable web applications and services, experience with Java or similar backend languages, and familiarity with front-end frameworks (e.g., React, Vue, Angular). This role is open to multiple locations across the US (including WA).
