TOPdesk is seeking an Engineering Manager to lead one or two teams in Budapest, Hungary, each with a specific technical mission—front-end, middleware, back-end, data, or platform. You will provide technical direction within architectural guardrails, grow engineers into senior and staff roles, own delivery and operational outcomes, and help drive our AI-native SDLC. The team sits within a roughly 170-strong engineering organization across Delft, Budapest, and Kaiserslautern. You will set technical standards, make key architectural decisions, ensure quality, security, and reliability, and work with Enterprise Architects to shape the domain roadmap. Technical environment includes legacy Java and MS SQL alongside modern stacks like Python, TypeScript, Vue, Postgres, Azure, Kubernetes, and Terraform-managed infrastructure. Claude Code is our primary agentic engineering environment; teams build subagents, evals, and reusable patterns, backed by automated tests and risk-based human approvals. Responsibilities include owning your teams’ delivery, maintaining sustainable review loads, and elevating the engineering bar. You will coach and develop engineers, hire when needed, and drive patterns that improve cycle time and stability while keeping human accountability clear.
