Position: Community Relations & Communications Manager for The Salvation Army, Austin Area Command, Austin, Texas, United States. The Salvation Army is seeking a strategic communications professional to lead internal and external public relations, serve as chief spokesperson and media liaison, and drive donor engagement and fundraising initiatives across Travis and Williamson Counties, including Williamson County's expansion. Responsibilities: Plan, direct, monitor and evaluate all public relations functions to maintain a positive and professional image; act as Public Information Officer for disaster services; liaise with media; write articles and capture event photography. Lead supervisory responsibilities for staff within the Development Department; conduct performance evaluations; hire/firing recommendations. Manage public relations activities: develop feature articles, interviews, press releases, and promotional materials; coordinate local media campaigns; prepare newsletters; organize annual reports; maintain PR contacts database. Develop community relations and partnerships: build relationships with media, nonprofits, schools, churches, and civic organizations; cultivate volunteers, sponsors, and matching gifts; coordinate outreach events. Strategic planning and evaluation: develop media relations strategies, measure results, and manage crisis response with the Area Commander.
