Brake Test Engineer II will develop brake systems through in-house testing for Hyundai, Kia, and Genesis North America vehicles. The role collaborates with the Vehicle Test and Development Teams, global brake engineering groups, and the Marketing and Quality divisions to advance braking performance. You will provide experience and perspective on the North American market, particularly customer usage and expectations. You will conduct objective benchmarking of competitor vehicles and quantify Hyundai, Kia, and Genesis products at specified development gateway points. You will support customer preference studies and translate subjective targets from benchmarking into measurable development parameters. You will perform brake-related testing and data analysis, support NA-specific braking aspects including pedal feel and regenerative braking controls, and develop in-house testing with test-specific instrumentation as needed. You will assist in planning and monitoring the team budget. You will create and present technical reports and mentor junior engineers on best practices. Travel up to 30%, domestically and internationally.

Qualifications include a Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or a related field; 3+ years of experience testing and evaluating vehicle dynamics; 5+ years of brake testing and development experience; knowledge of SAE and FMVSS test procedures relating to automotive braking; experience with data acquisition systems and sensors (CAN bus); proficient driving skills; knowledge of electrified vehicle architectures (brake-by-wire and regenerative braking)
