Hillis-Carnes Engineering Associates is seeking an Assistant Project Manager for its Specialty Construction Group in Woodbine, Maryland. The group handles design/build foundation engineering and construction projects across the Mid-Atlantic, including soil nail and shotcrete retention systems, H-pile and lagging systems, compaction grouting and ground improvement, sinkhole remediation, mini pile and helix piers, conventional and helicals underpinning, and geotechnical drilling. The role requires dependable, enthusiastic, and detail-oriented candidates who can multi-task in a fast-paced environment. Responsibilities include reviewing General Contractor bid boards and lead platforms to develop prospective leads; performing takeoffs to determine materials, labor, and equipment requirements; preparing and submitting bids and proposals and bid submittals (project experience, staff resumes, equipment lists, work plans, mix designs, pre-qualification forms, etc.); attending pre-bid meetings; following up with low bidders and negotiating for the proposed work. The Assistant Project Manager will also perform various project management duties for projects won, including scheduling and dispatching field crews, providing daily assignments, entering, reviewing, and approving time for field personnel, preparing project submittals and construction schedules, coordinating with vendors, ordering materials and tooling, and issuing purchase orders; setting up subcontract or rental agreements; participating in pre-construction and progress meetings; ensuring conformance with safety requirement
