Formative 3D is seeking an Additive Manufacturing Engineering Manager for our Falls Church, Virginia facility. In this hands-on leadership role, you will set the strategic direction and oversee day-to-day operations of our large-format additive manufacturing (LFAM) and extrusion-based print processes. You will lead a team of LFAM/FDM technicians, promote safety and continuous improvement, own print processes and optimization (parameters, material flow, toolpaths, part quality), troubleshoot production issues (delamination, warping, equipment faults), and implement corrective actions quickly. You will collaborate with Production to streamline post-processing and assembly workflows, manage capacity planning and staffing with HR, and partner with Engineering and R&D on new materials, processes, and finishing methods. You will drive automation and smart factory initiatives, report KPIs, timelines, resource use, and risks to leadership, and establish SOPs to ensure quality, safety, and documentation. You will coach and develop team members through performance management and career growth planning.
