Apple's Services Engineering (ASE) team builds the data tooling, server-side systems, and APIs that power the App Store, Apple Music, Apple Podcasts, and Apple Books. We are seeking a Software Engineer to join the Data Platform group to design, launch, and support privacy-first instrumentation and data infrastructure at scale. You will work at the intersection of product management and engineering with cross-functional stakeholders to determine what data to collect and how to collect it from client devices while preserving user privacy. Responsibilities include designing and implementing privacy-preserving analytics systems across platforms (iOS, iPadOS, macOS, tvOS, watchOS, visionOS, web), creating instrumentation specifications, and owning end-to-end product lifecycles for client instrumentation. You will also guide data infrastructure efforts to address complex analytics needs, collaborate with product managers, client and server engineers, data scientists, privacy and legal teams, QA, and more. Qualifications include 5+ years as a software engineer or equivalent, strong software design and data-structures knowledge, experience with large cross-functional teams, ability to translate high-level analytics questions into concrete engineering tasks, and proficiency in languages such as Swift, Objective-C, JavaScript, C/C++, Java, TypeScript, and modern front-end frameworks. A BS or MS in Computer Science or equivalent experience is expected. Preferred qualifications include experience with Privacy-Enhancing Technologies, differential privacy, data minimization, tokenization
