Prosperity Bank is seeking a Mortgage Accountant to join the finance and accounting mortgage team in Plano, Texas. The Mortgage Accountant reports to the SVP Mortgage Accounting Manager and performs accounting and control functions related to residential loans purchased and originated for sale or for investment, loan purchase commitments, mortgage servicing rights (MSRs), and short-term financing associated with these activities. This position maintains and reconciles related loan, MSR, MLO commissions, and other general ledger accounts.

Responsibilities

Qualifications: Physical Activities and Requirements:

Compute and enter daily/weekly deposits (title checks)
Verify and enter loan purchases – portfolio and secondary market
Manage first payments due to Prosperity Bank
Data entry for funding wire GL entries
Maintain detailed spreadsheets following each loan through the loan process
Manage mortgage expense reports/submissions
Process accounts payable for the mortgage department
Reconcile mortgage GLs
Compute commissions/bonuses for all loan officers
Scanning and filing
Education/Certification: High school diploma or GED; 2-year degree preferred
Experience: 2+ years mortgage accounting experience preferred
Skills/Abilities: Strong interpersonal skills; well organized; ability to operate related computer applications and equipment; attention to detail; ability to maintain an effective and efficient workflow
Talking: ability to convey instructions clearly
Average Hearing: ability to hear normal conversations
Repetitive Motion: frequent wrist/
