At Catawiki, we host a marketplace for extraordinary objects, with over 75,000 auctions per week and more than 10 million visitors each month. As a Backend Engineer, you will support one of our three verticals - Demand, Supply, or Fulfilment - by building scalable, maintainable microservices and features that power search, discovery, bidding, curation, logistics, payments, and support. You will work in a small, fully autonomous, and highly collaborative Agile team, taking ownership of end-to-end services. Responsibilities include designing, developing, testing, deploying, maintaining, and continuously improving microservices; ensuring high availability, low latency, and resilience; collaborating with product designers, product owners, and frontend, backend, and mobile engineers; contributing to engineering best practices and documentation; fixing bugs and refactoring for reliability; and learning through Technical Week after every two sprints. Requirements: 7+ years of software development experience with object-oriented programming; 3+ years building customer-facing products in e-commerce/fintech/SaaS; strong backend experience; API design, SQL, relational databases; comfortable communicating in English; collaborative mindset; growth-oriented; willingness to learn new technologies.
