Backend and Cloud Software Engineer

This hybrid role in Washington, DC, United States focuses on building and operating back-end and cloud services that enforce application behavior, connect systems, and move work through production. You will design and implement HTTP APIs, service contracts, integrations, asynchronous workflows, and data-access components. Services run in containers, serverless functions, virtual machines, and managed cloud services. You will define service boundaries and contracts, manage identity and authorization, validate inputs and dependencies, handle failure and retry, and improve observability through logs, metrics, and traces. You will also test changes and automate delivery to evolve services confidently. This role owns production service behavior beyond endpoint code and works with front-end developers, data teams, security, quality engineering, and platform or DevSecOps teams to balance reliability, security, performance, maintainability, and cost.
