Role: Security Engineer, Data Center Network Device Security. Our Security team protects the operating environment for Google's users and developers. Security Engineers work with network equipment and monitor systems for attacks and intrusions, and collaborate with software engineers to proactively identify and remediate security flaws and vulnerabilities. In this role, you will scope and perform comprehensive security reviews of network devices deployed in Google data centers. You will develop and refine threat models, risk assessments, and define security requirements for hardware products entering Google’s data centers. You will interact with different development teams and external vendors across time zones to drive security improvements. Responsibilities include identifying security issues and implementing security controls, tools, and services to improve security systems and processes; developing threat models, performing security reviews, and defining security requirements for network devices with emphasis on verified boot and embedded components; performing AI-assisted security review campaigns on specifications and firmware, including binaries; and providing subject matter expertise to Platform Infrastructure Engineering (PIE) teams designing and developing the next generation data center hardware.
