The Adler Planetarium is seeking a Staff Accountant to join our team on the Chicago Museum Campus. This full-time, exempt role involves performing standard accounting functions such as journal entry preparation, account reconciliation, and assisting with month-end close. Responsibilities include reconciling contributions and membership revenue, investment activity, deferred revenue, and various revenue sources including admissions, events, the webstore, school group sales, catering, cafe, and gift shop activity, as well as CityPass/Go Chicago; recording daily activity for operating, depository, and money market accounts; maintaining the fixed asset ledger and monthly depreciation entries; responding to financial questions from internal staff and external agencies; and serving as backup for Accounts Payable and Payroll. There is an opportunity to grow into a Senior Accountant role within one to two years.
