Senior Infrastructure Engineer at Alterman is a technical leadership role focused on the design, implementation, and optimization of the company’s enterprise infrastructure, including network, servers, virtualization, cloud, and storage. The incumbent will assess the current environment, identify gaps and risks, and deliver a prioritized remediation plan with clear recommendations to leadership. This position serves as an escalation point for complex infrastructure issues, mentors junior engineers, and leads strategic infrastructure initiatives. Responsibilities include designing, implementing, and managing enterprise network and server infrastructure (switching, routing, firewalls, physical servers, virtual environments such as Nutanix AHV, VMware, and Hyper-V, and cloud platforms like Azure), developing automated deployment and configuration management processes, implementing security controls and compliance standards, and ensuring performance, scalability, and reliability. The role also covers system installation, configuration and maintenance, VoIP, data center operations (physical and cloud-based), endpoint management, backups, disaster recovery planning, patch management, and incident response. Additional duties include mentorship and collaboration with cross-functional teams, evaluating new technologies, executing proof-of-concepts, and maintaining documentation, diagrams, and training materials.
