Senior Payroll Accountant is a fully remote position based in Brainerd, Minnesota. CJK Group, a print and print technology organization, is seeking an experienced Senior Payroll Accountant to join its Finance team. This role serves as the critical link between payroll and accounting, ensuring payroll transactions are recorded in the general ledger and payroll-related accounts are reconciled during the monthly close. Responsibilities include posting payroll journal entries for wages, taxes, benefits, garnishments, and accrued payroll liabilities; reconciling payroll general ledger accounts; collaborating with Payroll and Finance to resolve discrepancies between payroll output and GL postings; reviewing payroll registers for correct coding by department and cost center; supporting month-end and year-end close activities, including payroll accruals; assisting with W-2 reconciliations, payroll tax filings, state withholding and unemployment notices, 1099 reporting, census filings, and payroll-related audits; preparing documentation and schedules for audits; maintaining internal controls around payroll accounting; establishing state registrations for withholding, unemployment, and local payroll taxes; researching and resolving variances between payroll reports and financial statements; collaborating with HR and Payroll on new earnings codes, benefit changes, system updates, and GL mapping; tracking state unclaimed property reporting; creating GL mappings and system configurations to support acquisitions; preparing ad hoc financial reporting and labor cost analyses for Finance le
