Team Lead Java Engineer, Retail – Remote (Madrid, Spain)

We are AUTO1 Group seeking a Team Lead to own the full lifecycle of a subset of 300+ RESTful microservices. You will lead and grow a team of approximately 5 developers, conduct 1:1s, performance reviews, and drive improvements. You will also contribute hands-on code, perform code reviews, and ensure adherence to coding and architectural best practices. You will mentor team members, participate in hiring, and promote the use of AI coding assistants to enhance quality and efficiency.

About the role

Team Lead Java Engineer, Retail – Remote (Madrid, Spain)

We are AUTO1 Group seeking a Team Lead to own the full lifecycle of a subset of 300+ RESTful microservices. You will lead and grow a team of approximately 5 developers, conduct 1:1s, performance reviews, and drive improvements. You will also contribute hands-on code, perform code reviews, and ensure adherence to coding and architectural best practices. You will mentor team members, participate in hiring, and promote the use of AI coding assistants to enhance quality and efficiency.

Qualifications: - At least 2 years of experience leading developer teams and software projects. - 5+ years of modern Java programming with a strong focus on clean code. - Solid understanding of microservices and AWS services (ECS, SQS/SNS, EC2, Lambda, CloudWatch). - At least 3 years of experience with Spring technologies, including Spring Boot (Spring Cloud preferred). - Excellent communication and pragmatic collaboration, with ability to balance business needs and API design; experience with AI coding tools is a plus.
