Global Language Strategies, a woman-owned small business headquartered in the Washington, DC metropolitan region, seeks professional freelance translators, editors, and transcribers to translate, edit, and/or transcribe legal documents between Czech and English. This remote position involves translating and editing documents such as affidavits, depositions, and other legal materials, while maintaining a strong command of legal terminology in both English and Czech. The role requires excellent written communication skills in English and Czech (ILR level 3+), adherence to government client style guides and quality standards, and familiarity with domain-specific terminology. Responsibilities include reviewing and certifying the quality of other translators’ work, and mirroring source document formats in MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. Proficiency with MS Office and CAT tools such as SDL Trados Studio is expected. Qualifications include U.S. citizenship, willingness to undergo a U.S. government background check to obtain a Public Trust Clearance at a Moderate Level, a bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience, and 2–3 years of translation/editing experience between English and Czech, with 2–3 years of transcription experience if applicable.
