Engineering Manager to lead and grow Reddit's Site Defense teams that build and operate the infrastructure behind one of the internet's largest sites. This role guides senior engineers, makes technical and organizational tradeoffs, and helps Reddit scale defense platforms while maintaining site availability. Responsibilities include leading migrations such as moving from Fastly to Cloudflare for high-traffic properties, expanding site defense coverage across edge services, and building a robust operational model with on-call practices, SLOs, dashboards, incident response, and postmortems. You will hire, onboard, and develop a high-caliber team of infrastructure engineers, partner with senior ICs to define strategy for global traffic, edge/CDN, gRPC datapath, rate limiting, bot detection, and service discovery, and drive multi-quarter migrations and platform adoption efforts. The ideal candidate has 5+ years of people-management experience and a strong background in internet-scale infrastructure, Kubernetes, Envoy, gRPC, CDNs, DNS, and reliability.
