ROMEO is seeking a Backend Developer (mid-level) to help build and maintain backend services powering our platform for millions of users. You will work across two stacks—a PHP API and Node.js microservices—design and evolve database structures, optimize query performance, write tested code, and review your teammates’ work. You will handle user data with care, as much of what we store is sensitive, and contribute to improving system reliability by debugging production issues. Ideal candidates have about 2–4 years of backend experience, solid fundamentals in at least one object-oriented language (PHP or Node.js), strong SQL skills, and a commitment to testing. English is the working language; no German is required. Nice to have: experience with high-traffic or high-availability systems; familiarity with message queues / infrastructure (e.g., AMQP, Kubernetes). Tech stack includes PHP API and Node.js microservices.
