Technical Support Surveyor – Scottish Building Standards Hub. This is a permanent position with remote working arrangements; the base is Fife House, Glenrothes. The role supports the Scottish Building Standards Hub hosted within Fife Council Protective Services by performing technical assessment, research and content production for the range of building standards system services and activities delivered by the SBSH. Salary is FC8 £43,437.09 to £47,604.34 per year. Working pattern is 36 hours per week. Key duties include technically assessing and determining national Scottish Type Approval Scheme STAS applications, guiding applicants and professional agents in making submissions, developing content for national guidance and information papers, undertaking research and advising on matters through the national Dispute Resolution Process on technical, procedural or regulatory issues, engaging with verifiers through the SBSH technical enquiry process, and collaborating with industry stakeholders and other professionals in support of SBSH services. The candidate should have experience in Building Standards and Public Safety, be educated to degree level or equivalent, and membership of a professional body such as RICS or CABE is desirable but not essential. Other requirements include the ability to read architectural plans, knowledge of Local Government procedures, the ability to work independently, and willingness to travel to various locations across Scotland.
