Pinterest is seeking a Staff Software Engineer, AI Tools to own end-to-end connectivity for third-party AI tools and to shape the architecture for secure AI integrations across internal systems. You will lead the integration of external AI tools (e.g., Claude, Glean, Granola) with internal platforms such as Slack, Google Workspace, and Atlassian via MCP connectors and custom servers, exposing internal tools to external tools while maintaining strong security boundaries. Responsibilities include defining onboarding standards for new AI vendors, driving cross-functional initiatives, and building automation and integrations using Python, Go, TypeScript, and platform APIs/SDKs. You will design authentication and authorization flows (OAuth 2.0/2.1, OIDC, SAML, mTLS), manage edge/ingress routing, and coordinate incident response and postmortems with Security, Networking, and vendor teams. You will mentor engineers, represent the team to stakeholders, and lead projects from design through production. Requirements include 7+ years of software engineering experience, strong backend skills (Python, Go, Java, TypeScript/Node), deep expertise in authentication/authorization and systems design, experience integrating with SaaS APIs and services, familiarity with MCP and AI-connector ecosystems, and Kubernetes/EKS and Terraform experience. This role is based in San Francisco, United States with Remote OK work arrangement. Salary range: $177,185—$364,795 USD.
