Wrike is seeking a Staff Software Engineer to join the Backend Reliability (BRE) team. In this role, you will design, build, and maintain critical reliability components and contribute to Wrike’s ability to scale, perform, and recover from failure. You will work on components such as HTTP rate limiters, database schema migration tools, circuit breakers, and Redis-based caching, and you will troubleshoot complex production issues, optimize PostgreSQL usage, and ensure distributed systems stay performant under high load. You will lead preliminary investigations during severe production incidents, identify root causes, assess impact, and propose mitigation options that are implemented by the owning teams. You will create scalable tools and frameworks to help other engineering teams, leverage AI-powered tooling to accelerate development, and promote reliability best practices through knowledge sharing and design reviews. Qualifications include strong Java/JVM experience building scalable backends, understanding of distributed systems (high availability, CAP theorem, fault tolerance), experience with PostgreSQL and Redis, containerization and cloud-native environments (Docker, Kubernetes), and hands-on experience with RabbitMQ or Kafka. Strong English communication is required. Preferred: experience in infrastructure engineering or SRE, leadership of technical initiatives while remaining an IC, familiarity with observability stacks and data analytics tools. This is a hybrid role in Lithuania.
