Varda Space Industries is seeking a Senior Build Reliability Engineer for an on-site role in El Segundo, California. The engineer partners closely with design engineering and manufacturing to design test, manufacturability, and inspection plans for spacecraft hardware, and to ensure production yields reliable hardware at scale. The role extends beyond Build Reliability to support Quality, Flight Reliability, and Mission Assurance. The ideal candidate is collaborative, process-oriented, and hands-on with hardware design, testing, manufacturing, and troubleshooting experience. Responsibilities include: partnering with design engineering and manufacturing to create test, manufacturability, and inspection plans; containing suspect or non-conforming products and guiding quality inspectors, technicians, shop supervisors, and engineers; leading failure investigations in production, test, and operation; performing failure analyses and establishing verification coverage; providing critical peer reviews during design reviews and acceptance/qualification test campaigns; performing failure mode and effects analyses, building requirements compliance matrices, ensuring adequate test coverage, change management, and manufacturability of flight hardware; owning vehicle-level deliverables for regulatory bodies including requirements compliance, functional or flight hazard analyses, and verification evidence; and supporting Mission Assurance risk management and mitigation tracking.
