Snout is a fast-growing veterinary wellness-plan provider seeking its first Controller to join a small startup team in the New York metro area. This hybrid role will own the general ledger, monthly close, and the integrity of the company’s books as we transition from outsourced accounting to an in-house finance function designed by you. You will begin with an outsourced ledger and, within two quarters, take ownership of the close process, establish a documented revenue recognition policy, and lead the audit kickoff. This role reports to the CFO and offers the chance to grow into building and leading a broader finance team as the business scales.

In your first year, you will guide Snout through its first GAAP audit as the accounting counterpart to auditors and our institutional lenders, build and document revenue recognition for a novel membership-plan model, own reporting for covenant compliance, coordinate tax cleanup with outside advisors, and design cash and payment controls to ensure secure movement of member and clinic funds. The role is hands-on, AI-enabled, and provides real room to grow into leadership as the company expands.
