Robinhood is seeking a Staff Software Engineer to lead the Observability team and own Robinhood's full-stack observability platform. You will shape the roadmap for metrics, logs, traces, and alerting infrastructure, own the observability control plane end-to-end, and drive reliability for the entire product surface. You will lead a team of six engineers, focus on cost-efficient telemetry ingestion, build in-house solutions where off-the-shelf tools fall short, and explore AI-driven approaches to accelerate progress toward full-stack observability. This role is based in Menlo Park, CA with in-person attendance expected at least 3 days per week. You will collaborate with the Robinhood Command Center and engineering teams to align dependencies, incident response workflows, and observability standards. Requirements include 8+ years of software engineering experience, strong Kubernetes and cloud experience (AWS preferred), proficiency in Go or Python, and experience owning an observability control plane or telemetry pipeline. Knowledge of the Vector data pipeline or similar tools and familiarity with Prometheus, Grafana, Honeycomb, Humio, or Sentry is a plus. We offer challenging, high-impact work, competitive compensation with performance-based incentives, comprehensive benefits, access to AI tools, and a strong in-office culture to support high-performing teams.
