About the role

Spate is the machine intelligence platform used by top beauty brands. We analyze over 20 billion search signals to spot the next big beauty trend and help brands develop their marketing and product strategies. Spate is seeking a Backend & Data Software Engineer to help design and implement the next iteration of our data pipeline, storage, and API backing our SaaS platform. This is a remote, full-time contractor position open to candidates in Eastern Europe (Hungary).

About the role

Spate is the machine intelligence platform used by top beauty brands. We analyze over 20 billion search signals to spot the next big beauty trend and help brands develop their marketing and product strategies. Spate is seeking a Backend & Data Software Engineer to help design and implement the next iteration of our data pipeline, storage, and API backing our SaaS platform. This is a remote, full-time contractor position open to candidates in Eastern Europe (Hungary).

Responsibilities

Minimum Qualifications: Preferred Qualifications:

Support customers and staff in understanding and exploiting the platform, data, and tools.
Ensure the availability of the platform, data, and tools.
Define and implement improvements for security, quality, testing, automation, documentation, and new features.
Contribute to sprint planning, backlog grooming, and task prioritization.
Estimate effort for development tasks and help create project timelines.
Track and report progress, addressing delays or roadblocks proactively.
3 years of experience as a software engineer, backend and ETL for web applications.
Experience collecting, cleaning, and analyzing large data sets.
Proficiency in Python.
Proficiency in SQL.
Strong oral and written communication skills.
Project management skills and ability to handle multiple priorities.
Proven problem-solving skills.
Self-starter and ability to work independently.
Located in Eastern Europe.
Proficiency in at least one of Power BI, Tableau, or Google Data Studio.
Excellent analytical and customer-facing skills with attent
