Based in Bastrop, Texas, SpaceX is seeking a Solar Cell Reliability Engineer to own the reliability lab and the end-to-end reliability narrative for heterojunction (HJT) solar cells in space, from wafer processing to module integration and on-orbit performance. This on-site role supports Starlink, Starship, and other missions by ensuring solar cells deliver high power density and durability in the space environment. Responsibilities include owning and operating the solar cell reliability lab (equipment strategy, capability roadmap, calibration, maintenance, safety, throughput, and data integrity for HJT cell and coupon tests); defining and executing the space reliability test matrix (thermal cycling, thermal vacuum, humidity/damp heat where applicable, UV/photo-stability, reverse bias/hotspot, mechanical shock/vibration at cell/coupon level, radiation exposure coordination, and accelerated life tests); building the reliability narrative for flight and program reviews (failure modes, physics of failure, acceleration models, life predictions, margins, and acceptance/qualification criteria); partnering with HJT process and equipment engineering to link process parameters, metrology, and in-line defects to reliability outcomes and drive corrective actions and design-for-reliability changes; establishing reliability gates for process changes, tool qualifications, material substitutions, and supplier changes; developing and maintaining test methods, SOPs, fixturing, and automation for high-throughput, statistically defensible reliability characterization; leading root cause analy
